A truly great painting carries within it a sense of motion, whether in the gestures of the brushstrokes or the intensity of the emotion or the bodily expression depicted. Yet, normally the paintings don't actually move. Until now, that is.
Rino Stefano Tagliafierro created a stunning short film, entitled "Beauty," that transforms art history's most prized freeze-frames into animated imagescapes. For any of you who have wondered what happened directly before Ophelia floated through the river with ethereal grace, or directly after a very hungry Saturn took a bite out of his son, Tagliafierro provides a mesmerizing glimpse.
Enjoy what Tagliafierro refers to as a "tribute to the art and her disarming beauty" in the video above. Be warned, though things start off all idyllic landscapes and fair maidens -- but the blood, gore and demons come in around 5:30.
