Ryan Potocnik Scores Game-Winning Basket For Wrong Team In High School Basketball Game (VIDEO)

High School Basketball Player Sinks Game Winning Shot.. For The Wrong Team

How does this even happen?

With his team leading by one point in the closing moments of a high school basketball tournament in Norcross, Ga., Ryan Potocnik took an inbounds pass and inexplicably scored on the basket that his team was defending.

It would be unfair to call this a Bill Buckner-like mistake as Buckner never picked up the ball and threw it over the Green Monster.

Potocnik, at first unaware of his error, lifted his arms in triumph after scoring before realizing he had just made amongst the most boneheaded plays we've ever seen resulting in his team ultimately losing the game 60-57

Interestingly, Potocnik is no bench player, but rather was an experienced senior averaging 11 points and eight rebounds per game as the team's main post presence.

There's probably a lesson to had from this... but we're not sure what exactly.
