The Bible That Bill Donohue Isn't Reading

Are you a Catholic? Does a man who said, "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity, in general, and Catholicism, in particular," speak for you?

It's clear that Bill Donohue of the Catholic League isn't reading the same version of the Bible that other Catholics are reading. Something tells me Donohue is missing out on some key passages when he continues to attack John Edwards for standing by Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan.

Here are some passages Donohue is forgetting while he launches his missives:

Matthew 7:3
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Romans 14:4:
Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

John 8:7
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Matthew 7:15
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

First Corinthians 10:29
Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

First Epistle of Peter 2:15
For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

I simply do not believe that Bill Donohue speaks for all Catholics, especially Catholics who know and read these passages. I am not a Catholic, but the meaning of these passages could not be more clear: Donohue is wrong.

Are you a Catholic? Does a man who said, "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity, in general, and Catholicism, in particular," speak for you?

Does a man who said, "And then they wonder why so many people don't trust the Muslims when it comes to liberty, because they will abuse it," speak for you?

If he does not speak for you, it is time to stand up and deny him license to attack John Edwards or any other presidential candidate. Keeping Marcotte and McEwans on staff is only a risk for Edwards if Catholics don't stand up to Bill Donohue. Tell the world that Bill Donohue does not speak for you.

Update

Donohue defended a sexual predator on George Bush's 2004 campaign staff. IOKIYAAR, eh Bill? Just continue to ignore Matthew 7:3 and everything will work out for you Mr. Donohue.
