Chicago Blackhawks forward Troy Brouwer injured his shoulder in embarrassing fashion during the third period of Tuesday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Montreal's Lars Eller had the puck in the defensive zone and Brouwer charged at him and attempted to deliver a huge hit. However, Eller quickly moved out of the way and Brouwer went flying into the boards.

The referee blew the whistle as Brouwer, who appeared to suffer a shoulder injury, writhed in pain on the ice. The team called it an "upper body injury" and Brouwer isn't expected to play on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Canadiens won 2-1 in overtime to clinch a playoff spot.
