Ivan McCartney is headed to West Virginia, choosing the Mountaineers football program over his hometown Miami.

The Miramar prospect was torn between Miami, Florida and West Virginia, leading up to National Signing Day. He also looked at Oregon.

McCartney has been dubbed the No. 1 wide receiver prospect out of Florida.

McCartney did have some WVU connections, which may have ultimately played a role.

He told the Sun-Sentinel that the reason for his decision was simple: "I just wanted to try something new."
