Single parenting isn't easy. But for all the hardships and heartache that come with raising a child without your spouse around, there are also some surprising silver linings.
Earlier this week, HuffPost Divorce blogger Annette Powers wrote about her experiences as a single mom and highlighted one of the most positive things to come of her divorce: the undivided time she gets to spend with her son.
"Our home is just ours," she writes. "There are two toothbrushes and two towels. There are lady's shoes and little boy's shoes. There is whole milk and soy milk. It's just us."
Inspired by Powers' blog, we decided to ask our readers on Facebook and Twitter to share with us some of the surprising benefits of parenting alone. Click through the slides below to see what they had to say, then tell us what you appreciate most about single parenting in the comments.
