Gary Stein, the Marine set to be discharged over controversy concerning his anti-Obama, Tea Party-centered Facebook group, will launch his own radio program, he announced Thursday.
"With help of a few people, the first internet radio episode has been scheduled for my new show called 'The Conservative SitRep with Gary Stein,' Stein wrote in a statement, according to the Washington Examiner.
An online blog radio schedule places the program's debut on May 1.
Stein created the "Armed Forces Tea Party" Facebook page earlier this year, posting to it a number of images altered to carry an anti-Obama message. Prosecutors at his military trial claimed he had ignored warnings from his superiors about the page's content, the Associated Press reports.
On Wednesday, the Marine Corps announced that Stein would get an other-than-honorable discharge at an undisclosed date for violating Pentagon policies, a punishment that carries a loss of most benefits. The military has long placed limits on the free speech of active-duty military personnel, including criticism of the commander in chief.
"I love the Marine Corps, I love my job. I wish it wouldn't have gone this way. I'm having a hard time seeing how 15 words on Facebook could have ruined my nine-year career," he told the Associated Press.
In his statement Thursday, Stein said that his forthcoming radio material would be remain restricted until his departure from the armed services.
"Until I am officially out of the Marine Corps I do have two ground rules for the show," Stein said. "I will not talk about the details of my case or about President Obama, himself."
