Demi Moore announced Thursday that she plans to file for divorce from her husband of 6 years, Ashton Kutcher.
As news of the divorce spread around the web Thursday afternoon, users took to Twitter to express their feelings about the split. While some expressed cynicism, others expressed remorse for the end of the couple's six-year marriage.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Moore asked for others to respect her privacy:
"This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation," she said.
Kutcher, who's been an active voice on Twitter until recent events, released a message on the social networking site stating he enjoyed his time with Moore.
