Indians catcher Carlos Santana was carted off the field Monday night after an ugly collision at home plate with Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish. Kalish tried to score in the bottom of the seventh, and he plowed into Santana's left knee in the process.

While initial reports on Santana's condition were unclear, the injury appeared to be brutal and writers at NBC Sports said they "would be surprised to see him again this season." The team is awaiting MRI results. (UPDATE: The Plain Dealer reports that Santana does not have "serious" damage to his ACL or PCL.)

Santana is one of the most highly regarded young players in all of baseball. In his recent ranking of the 50 baseball players with the most trade value, Dave Cameron of FanGraphs ranked Santana 21st overall.
