After four years out of baseball, it looks like Curt Schilling has lost his fastball.
On Saturday, Schilling and Randy Johnson, the cornerstones of the Diamondbacks' 2001 World Series run, threw out the first pitch at Chase Field. While the Big Unit was on target, Schilling's delivery was juuuust a bit outside.
Interestingly enough, during his playing days, Schilling was one of the best control pitchers in Major League Baseball history, possessing the best strikeout-to-walk ratio of any pitcher who has won more than 200 games.
A workhorse with the D-backs and Red Sox, Schilling distinguished himself with a willingness to pitch through injury or on short rest if his teams needed him. But the 44-year-old might need a few extra bullpen sessions to prepare his next start.
