The election is almost over.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told a campaign rally Monday night that he had the support of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ― potentially a big deal in New Hampshire, where polls are close and Trump was speaking.

“Tom Brady, great guy, great friend of mine, great, great champion, unbelievable winner,” Trump said at the rally. “He called today and he said, ‘Donald, I support you, you’re my friend, and I voted for you.’ ”

But that may not be true, according to a comment Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, posted on Instagram Friday. A commenter on one of Gisele’s posts asked if she and Brady were indeed supporting Trump, to which she responded, “NO!”

Brady has been seen with one of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats in his Patriots locker, and the quarterback has said that the two are friends. That aside, Brady has remained quiet about who he’s supporting in the election. On Monday, he told Boston radio show “Kirk and Callahan” that he hadn’t voted yet. The show’s hosts later reported that Brady did vote later on Monday.

Trump also touted the support of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick at the Monday night rally, where he read aloud a letter Belichick purportedly sent him.

A Patriots spokesperson said in an email Monday night that he could not confirm whether Brady or Belichick supported Trump.

So, in conclusion: Tom Brady voted, but may or may not have voted for Trump. Bill Belichick may or may not have sent a letter to Trump. And this election may or may not be driving us all insane.

UPDATE: Nov. 8 ― CBS on Tuesday confirmed Belichick did indeed send Trump a note.
