Jordany Valdespin Suspended: MLB Punishes Mets Player In Biogenesis Case

New York Mets outfielder Jordany Valdespin was one of 12 players to accept a 50-game suspension for violations of the Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, the league announced on Monday.

"We have and continue to support Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Testing program," the Mets said in a statement, via MLB.com

Other notable names who accepted a 50-game ban are Texas slugger Nelson Cruz and Detroit's Jhonny Peralta. New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez was suspended through the 2014 season but will appeal.
