Mark Halperin Out As ABC Political Director

Mark Halperin Out As ABC Political Director
|

Today ABC News president David Westin announced that ABC political director Mark Halperin — creator of "The Note" and oft-decrier of "liberal bias" in media, especially to conservatives — is stepping down from his position. According to Westin, the decision was Halperin's, who, after ten years as ABC's Political Director, wanted "more time to pursue writing — perhaps another book and possibly for a publication" (obvious guess: Politico, with Way To Win co-author Jim Harris). The compromise, because according to Westin, everybody loves everybody: Halperin is now "our Political Analyst" (as opposed to just a regular "politcal analyst") and the new Political Director will be David Chalian, one of Halperin's specially-groomed political reporters. And together, they're gonna rock the '08 election! (Paraphrasing Westin here.)
