Scott Brown Hits Back Against League Of Conservation Voters 'Gone Washington' Ad

Scott Brown Hits Back Against Attack Ad

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) is hitting back against a League of Conservation Voters ad saying that he's "gone Washington."

The ad shows Brown throwing off his well-known barn coat with a suit underneath and driving his pickup truck throughout Washington. A voiceover criticizes his environmental record. The ad buy is valued at nearly $2 million and will air through November in the Boston area.

The Brown camp called on his likely Democratic Senate opponent, Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren, to denounce the ad.

Brown released a web ad refuting some of the claims in the ad.

One shot in the League of Conservation Voters ad shows Brown's truck with a Washington, D.C. license plate; however, he points out that his truck is registered in Massachusetts. The League points out that Brown voted against closing tax subsidies for oil companies, but Brown says he "actually supports eliminating special tax breaks if it results in lower rates for everyone else."

Brown also refuted the League's ad in a Tuesday op-ed in the Lowell Sun. "In reality, I have worked across the aisle on bipartisan legislation to protect our communities from harmful pollutants, to make our homes and businesses more energy-efficient and to begin to wean us off foreign oil," wrote Brown.
