The second presidential debate is happening tonight in Hempstead, N.Y. To mark the occasion -- and because we got so many amazing photos for our Kentucky series last week -- we asked HuffPost readers throughout New York to send us some pictures of the Empire State.

Once again, we got a generous volume of great material, and we'll be putting up multiple posts today to show off as much of it as we can.

Below, some pictures of New York State's towns, cities and hamlets, as seen by our readers. (You've also sent in a lot of great New York City shots, and those will get a separate post down the line.) We'll be adding pictures to this collection all day, so keep them coming.

You can add your own photos by clicking the green "Add Photos" button, by sending an email to firsthand@huffingtonpost.com, or by tagging your pictures anywhere online with #thisisNY.

Some captions have been edited for length and clarity.
