On this day in 1908, the Democratic National Convention was hosted in Denver. It marked the first time a major party held their convention in a Western state and the first national political convention to include women as delegates.

William Jennings Bryan won the presidential nomination for the third time after being elected with ease on the first vote. John W. Kern, a former candidate for Governor in Indiana, was chosen by acclamation for the vice presidential nomination.
