Okay, I get it. Things are grim for a lot of people right now — for some of us, we’re still reeling in a state of disbelief at the state of our country. It’s easy for us to despair or get depressed about current affairs. But, as a Muslim woman, I’m here to tell you that there is no time for that right now. At this moment, there are people like me that need your support. And you are in the perfect position to give it in a way that will actually make a difference.
One of the #1 questions I receive as the editor-in-chief of MuslimGirl.com is, “What can allies do to help?” The short answer is a lot. Even the simplest of actions that you think might be inconsequential could actually have a tremendous impact on alleviating some of the adversity that Muslim women are experiencing right now. Small actions as simple as checking your friends could have an effect that ripples outward.
