Upsetting Video Shows How Applebee's Dollar Margaritas Are Really Made

If you were ready to rush to your nearest Applebee’s after the company announced it would be offering $1 margaritas during the entire month of October, you may want to rethink that decision.

A video shared on the popular Facebook page “Bitchy Waiter” shows a man who claims to be an Applebee’s bartender making a batch of the signature drinks ― and you might not like what goes into them.

According to the anonymous employee behind the video, Dollaritas are made by combining one gallon of margarita mix concentrate, one gallon of “bottom-shelf” tequila and three gallons of tap water in a five-gallon bucket.

“If ‘the dollarita is your life,’ you’re an animal who can’t taste things,” a caption in the video reads. “My life as a bartender for the month of October is strictly making dollarita backups and pouring dollaritas.“

Although the mix does seem slightly below restaurant quality, we think that customers paying $1 for their margaritas aren’t exactly expecting to find Patrón in their cups.

Carry on, Applebee’s.
