The Judicial Crisis Network, a conservative advocacy group, released two ads on Tuesday attacking New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's record on judges.
The videos go after Christie for re-nominating Stuart Rabner, a Democrat, as Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court:
"New Jersey’s Supreme Court has been one of the most activist courts in the nation... Governor Chris Christie promised he would fix it, remake it with a court of judges who respect the rule of law. Over and over, he broke his promise."
According to Politico, the group plans to run $75,000 worth of online ads this week. They've also created a website for the campaign.
Christie is heading to Iowa on Thursday to attend a fundraising dinner for Governor Terry Branstad. According to the Washington Post, the ads are targeting voters in Iowa.
Christie is rumored to be weighing a run for president in 2016. Winning the support of Iowans is considered a key step to securing the Republican nomination. Once a favorite, Christie's popularity declined following the infamous Bridgegate scandal.
