When news broke that the campaign of Delaware Senate candidate and tea party upstart Christine O'Donnell was hiring Fred Davis, the famed mind behind such productions as "Demon Sheep," to cover its advertising duties, the partnership seemed likely to be provocative.
O'Donnell's first two ads proved to be rather tame productions that nonetheless generated a ton of buzz. For the third and latest video, however, Davis appears to have abandoned caution entirely, taking a page out of the playbook of Internet legend Antoine Dodson.
"Hide your will, hide your lights, 'cause he's taxing everything out here," the ad's narrator intones, roughly approximating a horror-movie trailer blended with a more generic attack ad. "Chris Coons is the Taxman."
Earlier this year, Dodson counseled people "to hide your kids, hide your wife and hide your husband, 'cause they rapin' everybody out here," after a man broke into his Alabama home and got into bed with his sister. The chatter that followed catapulted him to Internet and national stardom.
