CNN Denies Journal Report DeLay To "Sign On" As Commentator
|

Today, the WSJ's John Fund reported that former (though still indicted!) House Majority Leader Tom Delay was about to be signed by CNN as a commentator. Fund's only source for this is Delay; there was no evidence in the column that Fund had called CNN to confirm Delay's assertion. Today, TVNewser posted the rumor ("Tom DeLay Becoming CNN Commentator?") so ETP emailed CNN to get confirmation -- and learned that Delay is NOT, in fact, signing on to CNN, forcing us to change our headline from "The Most Trusted Name In Ethics Violations?" which we sort of liked. But, 'tis not the case: Said a CNN spokeswoman via email: "CNN is NOT hiring Tom Delay." Which seemed sort of emphatic, so we're gonna go with it.
