Jason Hoppy, Bethenny Frankel's Ex, Steps Out In New York City Wearing His Wedding Band

Bethenny Frankel's Ex Sports Surprising Accessory

Despite splitting with Skinnygirl mogul Bethenny Frankel over the holidays, Hoppy was photographed in New York City on Wednesday wearing his wedding band while on an outing with the estranged couple's 2-year-old daughter, Bryn.

Frankel, on the other hand, was spotted with a bare ring finger earlier this month -- just days after she filed for divorce.

Despite flaunting his still-adorned finger, Hoppy too filed divorce docs last week, requesting (among other things), primary custody of Bryn.

When is the right time to remove the wedding ring after separation or divorce? If the celebrities below are any indication, it's simply a matter of personal preference. Click through the slideshow to see how long it took these 10 stars to step out without their rings post-split.

When They Ditched The Ring

Roughly three weeks after news of the Tiger Woods infidelity scandal first broke, Elin Nordegren -- his wife of five years -- was spotted at a Florida gas station without her wedding ring. In January 2010, the former model was spotted wearing the ring again at a ski resort in the French Alps, but later reports suggested that it might have been Nordegren's twin sister, Josefin, in the photograph. In February 2010, three months after the public got wind of Woods' infidelity, the pro golfer made his first public appearance since the scandal at a Florida press conference. Notably, Woods was not wearing his wedding band. He and Nordegren finalized their split in August 2010. (credit:AP)
Ashton Kutcher(03 of10)

In the weeks following Ashton Kutcher's reported cheating scandal, the actor's wedding ring was seemingly on one moment and off the next. Then, two weeks after Demi Moore said she planned to file for divorce from Kutcher back in November 2011, he was seen driving around Hollywood without his wedding ring. But at the Television Critics Association press tour in January 2012, Kutcher was sporting a ring on his ring finger once again. Some claimed, though, that the piece of jewelry was just a ring and not the "Two and a Half Men" star's wedding band. Kutcher officially filed for divorce in December 2012 -- more than a year after they split. (credit:AP)
Seal (04 of10)

In an episode of "Ellen" that aired two days after Seal and Heidi Klum announced their separation in January 2012, the "Kiss From a Rose" singer opened up about why he was still wearing his ring post-split. "That is just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman," he said. "We had eight years -- eight wonderful years together -- and just because we have decided to separate doesn't necessarily mean that you take off your ring and you're no longer connected to that person." Just three weeks later, Seal was spotted at an Australian airport without his ring. He was, however, wearing some uber-bright yellow nail polish (click here for photos), which definitely called attention to his now-ringless finger. (credit:Getty Images)

Three days after her Jan. 22, 2012 separation announcement, Klum was photographed wearing a gold band around her left ring finger. People magazine speculated that it was actually her wedding ring "turned upside down" with the stone facing toward her palm. Several weeks later (and just four days after Seal was photographed without his ring), the "Project Runway" judge was spotted taking her kids to karate with a ringless finger. She filed for divorce less than two months later in April 2012. (credit:Getty Images)

Four days after announcing her separation from her husband of nine years -- Will Arnett -- in September 2012, Amy Poehler had already removed her ring. The "Parks and Rec" star was spotted at LAX without the wedding bling, but "looked in good spirits" in spite of the recent breakup. On the Emmys red carpet several weeks later, the actress rocked a $2 adjustable ring from her son's toy box in its place. (credit:AP)

Two weeks after Holmes filed for divorce and just one day after they reached a settlement, Cruise got back to work on his upcoming sci-fi film, "Oblivion." The actor was spotted on the movie set sans wedding ring. In August 2012, the couple of five years finalized their split. (credit:Getty Images)
