It turns out that when John McCain asked, "Who is Barack Obama?" maybe he wasn't being rhetorical. Maybe he really wants to know. And who can blame him, when his own campaign can't get its attack stories straight?

For weeks, McCain's partisans have been hollering that Obama is an elitist, a dyed-in-the-wool Columbia University-Harvard Law-University of Chicago professor elitist.

But now another McCain partisan, former Oklahoma governor Frank Keating, is doing a 180, saying now that Obama should out himself and 'fess up that he "was a guy of the street."

And would that street be... Massachusetts Avenue, in Boston? No wonder McCain's confused.
