Wallace asked McCain if he could honestly say that Sarah Palin was the best person to put a heartbeat away from the presidency. McCain replied, "Oh, yeah. She's a partner and a soulmate." The remark is astonishing considering he had met Palin only once before he selected her as his vice presidential running mate.
