Author Jane Buckingham says that she runs into minor disasters almost every day, and so it was logical that she should write a survival guide. Her new book, "The Modern Girl's Guide to Sticky Situations," gives women contingency plans for dealing with those tough situations that everyone deals with all the time.

Some of the advice Buckingham gives is tips on what to do if you send an email you shouldn't (you can download a program -- DidTheyReadIt.com -- that tells you if the recipient has read the email yet), how to fake a call on a blind date, what to do if you drop your cell phone in water (don't use heat -- put it in a bowl of rice), and what to do about a bad self tan. Some sticky situations don't have an easy solution, though, so, says Buckingham, "In a worst case scenario, just have a chocolate bar, and it can make any day better."
