Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) defeated Democrat Jim Mowrer in the state's 4th District Tuesday.
King, who was first elected to Congress in 2002, is known for his outspoken opposition to immigration and for his polarizing stances on other issues. Mowrer served at the Pentagon as the special assistant to the undersecretary of the Army as well as in Iraq as an intelligence analyst.
In debates, Mowrer accused King of contributing to Congressional gridlock and dysfunction.
