Halloween is hands down my favorite holiday. After all, this is the one time of year it's socially acceptable to wear more makeup than a streetwalker. And chronic procrastinators, take note -- a leotard and tights or a little black dress can be costume enough with the right face paint. Just ask any streetwalker.

Of course, unless you're a professional yourself, your everyday makeup won't cut it come the 31st. And so, a round-up of some of this season's best Halloween beauty finds:

Halloween Helpers
Temporary Tattoos(01 of06)

This kit of surprisingly realistic looking tattoos features exotic flowers, stars, feathers, swords, and chains to create a variety of looks on the skin. $25 at Urban Decay.
High-Intensity Pigments(02 of06)

Sugarpill's pressed eyeshadows have a much higher pigmentation than normal makeup -- meaning colors go on bright and strong, whether they're rainbow neons or basic black and white. Ideal for creating any number of faces. $12 to $34 at Sugarpill.net.
Faux Lashes(03 of06)

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, than false eyelashes are some damned important window dressing. Drugstore lashes are fine for a basic flutter, but for sheer theatricality nothing beats Make Up For Ever's extensive collection. Neon, glitter, feathers -- all for $15 a pop at Sephora.
Glitter(04 of06)

90's cult brand Hard Candy has recently cornered the market on glitter. The line includes loose glitter, glitter pencils, glitter gels, glitter mascaras and glitter eyeshadows -- all in an impressive selection of colors. The drag queen-friendly collection is now sold exclusively at WalMart, of all places, with most items in the $5 to $10 range. As any drag queen will tell you, that's a good price for glitz.
Nail Polish(05 of06)

Plain black nail polish is for goth teenagers. Color and texture, when done right, are far creepier than any neutral. Case in point, China Glaze's otherworldly shades in zombie green, putrid orange, and goulish purple. Available nationwide at Sally Beauty Supply.
The All Inclusive Kit(06 of06)

If you don't want to put a look together yourself, there's always Sephora's Halloween kits for dummies. Whether you want to be a sexy vampire, a sexy devil, or a sexy peacock (seriously), they've got you covered. The kits even come with an instruction booklet to make it as easy as possible.$26 at Sephora.
