IKEA's New 2014 Catalog App Makes Buying Furniture So Much Easier (VIDEO)

WATCH: Your Trip To IKEA Is About To Get Easier

You know when you sit down with that big IKEA catalog, flip through the pages and try to imagine how the pieces you're eyeing would actually fit in your home? (This is usually followed by rummaging around for a tape measure and ruler, doing calculations that just shouldn't be done at 11 o'clock at night.) All that's changing -- thanks to IKEA's 2014 Catalogue App.

This new feature, which will be available on August 25, uses an augmented reality function that allows you to see what the furniture would really look like in your own home. All you have to do is scan pages of the book, place the printed catalog wherever you'd like the sofa/table/bookshelf to go and then you can view a 3-D model of the piece in your room on your phone or tablet. Pretty sweet, huh?

The best part is that this could save you from the headache of heading to the store, of course.

Watch the video above to see how it works, and be sure to head over to Fast Co. Design for more information.
