Master illustrator William Stout presents Legends of the Blues, a gorgeous book featuring 100 portraits of legendary blues musicians. Veteran illustrator Stout, who counts such varied artistic talents as R. Crumb, J.C. Lyendecker, Alphonse Mucha, and Alberto Vargas among his influences, is particularly suited to this project. A longtime fan of the blues, he's spent over 45 years creating art for record covers (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones), comic book art (Little Annie Fanny, Tarzan), and films by such illustrious filmmakers as Monty Python, Jim Henson, Guillermo del Toro, and Disney.

Billie Holiday, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter, and Bessie Smith are among the renowned blues artists featured in this hardback Abrams Books volume, each accompanied by a fascinating written profile. Accompanying the book is a Legends of the Blues 14-song CD. If you're in LA on May 4, see Stout present and sign his brand-new at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Feliz.
