Miranda Kerr: I Had No Idea My Instagram Was Photoshopped!

One glance at her Instagram account, and it's easy to believe Miranda Kerr's life is perfect, perhaps even too perfect. Despite recent claims that the model Photoshops the pictures she posts, however, Kerr has said that she never uploads retouched shots... on purpose.

This week, the hawk eyes over at the Fashion Spot and the Livejournal community Fashin spotted a few discrepancies between original photos and the ones Kerr featured on her Instagram account. One in particular, a shot Kerr posted of her Victoria's Secret Angel days, seemed to spark outrage, as it appeared she had slimmed-down her waist. In another Instagram, Kerr poses with Micheal Kors with a decidedly slimmer waist and distorted fingers, a "giveaway" that the photo had been retouched using the Smudge tool in Photoshop, according to the Fashion Spot.

But don't make your judgement call just yet -- the Aussie took to Instagram again to clear things up. After deleting the aforementioned Victoria's Secret photo, she replaced it with the original, unretouched shot along with this apologetic caption:

Hi guys, here is the original VS image! When I re-posted the photo this week to support the girls I screen grabbed it off the internet when I was working in Japan. I had no idea it was photoshopped. All good intentions- sorry for the confusion and congratulations to the girls for such a great show! ❤

Phew. The thought of a Victoria's Secret model feeling the need to make herself appear thinner is certainly an unsettling one in an industry rampant with body image issues and heavy-handed retouchers to support that climate. Even with models like Robyn Lawley decrying the "thigh gap" trend, we could certainly use more fashion world insiders bringing these issues to light and promoting body acceptance.
