When it comes to nutty desserts, peanut butter tends to take the spotlight -- and we understand why, as it is the ultimate companion to chocolate. But don't be so quick to turn to this favorite spread, the peanut is a star in its own right.

Thankfully, the mysterious folks behind food holidays recognize the importance of this nut, and have declared September 13 National Peanut Day.
