Washington state's GOP "welcomes" Michelle Obama to the state by highlighting her remarks about being proud of her country for the first time. The comment is contrasted with a diverse group of Republican women declaring they've always been proud of their country and saying the pledge of allegiance.

The Tennessee GOP took this tack back in May -- right down to the "welcoming" press release.

The Politico reports that the Obama's campaign responded, saying John McCain should curb these attacks or take responsibility for them. McCain hasn't replied, but the Republican National Committee is not apologetic: "Is Barack Obama going to speak to his operative's attacks against Cindy McCain? The WA GOP's actions were completely independent of the McCain campaign and RNC, the same cannot be said for Obama's handpicked spokesperson at the DNC."

Yesterday, Obama told Glamour that attacks on his wife were "infuriating."
