Google a picture of Diego Klattenhoff today, and you'll likely get mugs of the handsome, mature actor viewers know from "Homeland" and "The Blacklist." Delve a little deeper and you'll find Klattenhoff in a different part of cultural lore.

Klattenhoff memorably played Shane Oman in the cult hit "Mean Girls," aka the dude Regina George dumped Aaron Samuels for. Klattenhoff's best moment in the film comes in the school's projection room above the auditorium when Aaron almost catches Shane and Regina making out, sans clothes.

In a HuffPost Live interview Wednesday, Klattenhoff said the real comedy of the scene came from the skimpy underwear he wore in it.

"The director, he initially had me in these other underwear," he told host Alyona Minkovski. "He was like, 'Those aren't really funny. Let's find him some baggy, kind of... This is comedy, let's find some funny underwear.' So those were the funny underwear."

The scene was certainly funny, but Klattenhoff had one serious problem with the underwear: "My balls kept falling out."
