We've all been there. You're sitting at the dinner table, eyeing your almost empty bowl of spaghetti and congratulating yourself on making it through the meal without any mishaps. But when you lift your fork to eat the very last bite, one unruly noodle suddenly slips free and without you're knowing it lands on your lap.

Tomato stains are very common and surprisingly easy to remove despite their tricky reputation. Next time you see that orange ring start to spread, try some of these stain fighting tricks.

Hydrogen peroxide might sound (and look) a little scary, but if you use the 3% solution meant for cleaning scrapes, it's harmless. First, mix 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide with 3 tablespoons cold water and scrape off the excess sauce and pasta. Then apply the peroxide mix to the stain and cover it with a thick towel. Let set for 30 minutes and check for loss of color in the stain periodically. Finish by rinsing the stain with water without soaking the carpet. Photo: Flickr, Mike Burns

Lemon juice can serve as a fantastic stain remover as the high level of acid will break up the tomato particles. Start by scraping off any excess sauce and food, then simply cut some lemon slices, squeeze the juice on the stain and carefully rub it in with a sponge. Photo: Flickr, mugley

Run cold water on the stain and then drop a dab of dish soap onto your fabric. Scrub with your fingers by rubbing the two sides of the fabric together to avoid pulling or tearing threads, and rinse the soap off. You can repeat this process a few times for particularly large stains. Photo: AOL/The Huffington Post
