Avril Lavigne Wedding: Singer Wears Black Gown To Ceremony In French Castle

Avril Lavigne's 'Crazy' Wedding Details Revealed

Avril Lavigne hinted previously that her wedding would have a "theme" and feature "crazy attire and colors," and we now know she wasn't kidding!

The singer married her boyfriend of one year, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, at Chateau de la Napoule, a medieval castle close to Cannes, France on Monday.

Lavigne wore a black Monique Lhuillier gown and carried a bouquet of black flowers during the candlelit ceremony, attended by 110 guests. Kroeger wore an all-black suit. The wedding capped off a three-day celebration in France, which Lavigne told Hello! she wanted to be like a "crazy vacation" for her guests.

"I've been planning this wedding for a really long time," Lavigne said. "I showed [Chad] everything and he let me take the reins and bounce ideas off of him."

The couple met in 2012 while working on Lavigne's new album, and got engaged in August after a month of dating. Kroeger proposed by taking a photo of himself with the engagement ring and sneaking it into a scrapbook Lavigne kept at the recording studio, and used stickers to spell out, "Will you marry me?"

The couple's love for France is no secret -- they have matching tattoos that say, "Vivre le moment présent," or "Live in the moment."
