Not even the last weeks of metastatic breast cancer could stop Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards, from helping to plan her daughter Cate's big day.

In an exclusive article for Glamour magazine, Cate Edwards opens up about her mother’s battle with breast cancer, advice on getting married, and her mother's role in her upcoming wedding—which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, almost a year after Elizabeth Edwards’ death.

In her Glamour article, Cate Edwards says her mother was very involved in planning the wedding, even in her last days: “I feel so lucky to have shared that joy with her,” she says. Mother and daughter planned an outdoor reception with a “rustic
romantic” theme for the wedding, which will be held at the Edwards' family home outside Chapel Hill, N.C.

Former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.), who currently faces charges of receiving illegal campaign contributions used to cover up an extra-marital affair in 2006, will walk his daughter down the aisle.
