Voters in states like Virginia, New Jersey and New York cast their votes on Election Day Tuesday.

Democrat Ralph Northam has won the Virginia governor’s race, prevailing over Republican Ed Gillespie, who ran a Trump-style, right-wing populist campaign.

Democrat Phil Murphy won the governor’s race in New Jersey. In addition, major state and local races are taking place in Washington, Georgia, Utah and Maine.
