Hair Wars Showcases Wild Hairstyles For Detroit Show (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Hair Wars Showcases Some Of The Wildest Hairstyles We've Ever Seen
|

We've seen some wild hair in our days, from wacky runway hairdos to celebrities showing off. But Hair Wars, an annual event started in Detroit, showcases some of the most creative 'dos we've ever laid eyes on.

Hair Wars was started in 1985 by David Humphries, who goes by the moniker Hump the Grinder. The idea was to give local hair stylists in Detroit a stage to showcase their hair designs. But Hair Wars exploded beyond the local level, since expanding into a national tour and earning mention in films such as "My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage."

The hairstyles themselves have also exploded, to the point where the hair stylists are dubbed "hair entertainers." The 'dos are extravagant, standing several inches or feet above the head and incorporating objects such as fake eyeballs, mini motorcycles and other props.

Seriously, this hair that puts Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga to shame.

Below are just a few of the wild styles by Hair Wars stylists. Click over to the Daily Mail to see more photos!
