What could it look like? Could you just imagine how different our nation would be if we all worked together for the greater benefit of ALL? What would it be like to not open up Facebook and see meme after meme of Trump-bashing and Hillary-bashing? What would it look like to see a peaceful protest that allows individuals to practice their right to freedom - without cursing and throwing things? What would it look like to turn on any news channel and hear unbiased reporting that gives equal attention to all sides of a debate?

So I guess I'm dreaming! We have gone so far beyond peace in this country and the ideal of cooperation from all sides. The idea of bi-partisanship is almost impossible. Too many love to jump on the "freedom of speech" bandwagon and tout their believes but won't allow others with differing opinions to share theirs. It results in ugly banter back and forth, calling names, throwing out expletives. I, for one, am so tired of it. WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!

We are all to blame to some degree. We need to listen more than we speak. Listen to all sides and consider the source. I see a lot of articles posted by some backyard news outlets that don't have much proof or backup of claims being made. So when you see articles shared from these type of sources -- check it out before sharing it further. Believe it or not, everything you read on social media is not true! Imagine that!

The media is also to blame. The mainstream media is so one-sided it is almost comical. I would like to see more equal representation on all major networks of hot political topics and the candidates. I shouldn't have to see truth from the Democrats on certain networks and truth from the Republicans on another. Fair reporting -- just imagine it!

And of course, the politicians and wanna-be politicians are to blame. I hear more tearing-down of the opposition from the presidential candidates then I do about what they plan to do for our country if they get the office. I can watch the news and read the reports and catch up on social media to hear all the negative stuff the other candidate has done. But could you please tell me what YOU are going to do for our country and how you plan to achieve your promises? I find it of very weak character to bash another candidate. I understand that they feel like they have to defend their stances or justify their position but they can do that without opponent bashing. Really -- just tell me what it IS you have planned, what it IS you have done or are going to do. The general population is smart enough to figure out where their beliefs most closely lie and who they will support. Trust us to make our own decisions about the opposition.

Really, the idea is to bring peace and hope to our country, right? That's what we all want. I have no doubt that both our presidential candidates agree with that as well. The difference is HOW and WHO. The political debate should be how can WE as Americans make our country better. Not how can WE the Democrats or can WE the Republicans. We are all Americans wanting to live the American Dream in peace and unity. Division amongst us doesn't help bring us unity or peace, it just creates more division. It's an ugly pattern that we must stop.

Bottom Line, let's all get along and respect each other's differences. That is one of the greatest founding qualities established in the United States of America -- that we have the freedom to express our opinions. Start by practicing the Golden Rule -- treat others the way you would like to be treated. I'll go back to my dream now. I'm not giving up so easy!
