Food writer Mark Bittman stopped by HuffPost Live on Friday to promote his new book--and way of life--VB6: Eat Vegan Before 6:00 To Lose Weight and Restore Your Health...For Good. Host Abby Huntsman asked Bittman about his friend Gwyneth Paltrow's new cookbook, It's All Good, and the backlash she's endured for not being a chef.

"I'm not a chef either, so I have no problem with non-chefs writing books," responded Bittman. "I'm not going to make any friends by saying this, but I think non-chefs write better cookbooks than chefs."

Them's fighting words!

He also addressed the envy felt by pretty much the whole world when his show with Paltrow and Mario Batali "Spain...On The Road Again" ran on PBS in 2008. "If I could do it again I would...it was as much fun as it looked."
