When you think of a destination wedding, you typically think of tropical beaches and romantic vineyards -- not the North Pole.

But harsh conditions and freezing sub-zero temperatures were no problem for Norwegian explorer Borge Ousland and his girlfriend, Hege, who became the first couple to tie the knot at the far North locale last week.

The bride and groom exchanged traditional Lutheran vows in front of a unique makeshift altar, a cross made of skis.

Even though it was a chilly -9.4 degrees Fahrenheit on the day of the couple's wedding, 30 guests and a pastor attended the ceremony.
