Pie is such a classic American dessert, it almost seems sacrilegious to alter. We know it as being baked round, served sliced and deep with filling. But imagine a pie in a different shape.
What happens when you take the pie out of its perfectly circular confines? You get pies cooked in jars, made into hand pies or popsicle shaped. While we're open to trying anything pie-like, we're on the fence about pie pops, which turn this baked good into miniature treats served on lollipop sticks.
Some things we don't like: There's a much higher crust-to-filling ratio. The sticks are bad for the environment. They're tiny. And did we mention you hardly get any pie filling?
Are pie pops a fad that should fizzle out? Or are they the coolest trend since cake pops?
We've rounded up some pie pop recipes from bloggers around the web. Check them out in the slideshow below.
