Prince William Wears An Unexpected Accessory To The Queen's Birthday | HuffPost Life

April 21 was a big day for the royal family. Not only did their matriarch Queen Elizabeth II turn 90 years old, but Prince William also emerged as the more buzzed-about member of the entity that is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

How on earth did he manage to overshadow the media phenomenon formerly known as Kate Middleton, you ask?

Two words: Trendy. Glasses.

The royal family headed to a small, intimate dinner Thursday following a day of public events for the queen. From the looks of this photo, Duchess Kate stepped out in a lacy green dress. But who cares? Look at those cool glasses!

Perhaps the queen has an affinity for seeing the prince in glasses. Here he is with a downright giddy queen at the Royal Albert Hall in November, 2015. Back in 2013, he was spotted in a less fashionable pair on his way to Christmas lunch with the queen at Buckingham Palace.

Whatever the reason, we're not mad about it. The prince looks pretty handsome all bespectacled.
