Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) raised nearly $1 million in the second half of June following her high-profile filibuster of a controversial abortion bill.

The Texas Tribune reports that Davis, who represents part of Fort Worth, raised $933,000 between June 17 and June 30. According to filings with the Texas Ethics Commission, Davis received 15,290 separate donations, and about $300,000 came from donors outside of the Lone Star State.

Davis gained national attention last month when she fought Texas' restrictive abortion bill with an 11 hour filibuster. While the bill ultimately passed, Davis' effort sparked speculation that she would run for governor in 2014.

"Of course it forces a second look, but I am not taking that look right now," Davis told NBC News of her potential candidacy. "Right now, I'm working to try to be very strategic, and a member of the team that has to work very hard in the next few weeks to defeat this bill."

A poll conducted by Public Policy Polling found Davis trailing Gov. Rick Perry (R) by double digits in a potential match-up. Perry has since decided against running for reelection in 2014.

On Sunday, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) announced his campaign for governor. Abbott has already raised $18 million in campaign funds, according to the Associated Press.
