In a commercial released today, McCain looked directly at the camera and promised not to engage in negative attacks. Yet he released a vehemently negative press release as the fireworks were still bursting in the sky over Invesco field.

In a television commercial released today designed to improve voter's perception of him as a kindly bipartisan and to immunize himself from attacks by Democrats during the culminating night of the Democratic Convention, John McCain looked directly at the camera and promised Barack Obama that he would not engage in negative attacks until tomorrow:

But breaking his promise mere hours after he made it, McCain issued the following, vehemently negative and labor-intensive press release, which arrived on political reporters' Blackberries while the celebratory fireworks were still bursting over the Obama family's heads at Invesco field in Denver:
