For some, Taco Bell's new Doritos Locos Taco, which swaps out the typical tortilla-based taco shell for a folded disc of Doritos chip and first went nationwide March 8, is cause for jubilation. For others, it's the source of disappointment. For others still, it's a potential messiah for an embattled Taco Bell or a "neon monstrosity."
And for us at HuffPost Food? The Taco Bell Doritos Locos Taco is a harbinger of revolution.
We see, tucked in between the two halves of that crispy orange shell, the makings of a whole new cyborg race of foodstuff. Once we started to ponder the absurdity and sodium levels inherent in the Taco Bell Doritos Locos Taco, we couldn't help but wonder what other chain food dishes could be improved (or destroyed) by the addition of Doritos.
We were not content just to use our imaginations, though. We wanted -- needed -- to taste the magic. So we did. Below are the results of our mad franken-experiment, as photographed by HuffPost staff photographer Bobby Doherty:
