Meat And Onion Truck Crash Sends Produce Flying (VIDEO)

WATCH: Produce Sent Flying After Meat And Onion Truck Collision
|

LiveLeak has some pretty amazing footage of a collision that occurred early Friday morning in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Pierre McClain, the driver of a truck carrying meat, fell asleep at the wheel around 3:30 a.m. and crashed into the trailer of an onion truck. Both were travelling between 70 and 80 miles per hour.

Food blog FoodBeast referred to the incident as an "impromptu fajitas grill sesh." Can't say we disagree, but the situation was hardly a laughing matter: The resulting aftermath sent McClain to the hospital with serious injuries and onions and fuel flying all over the roadway. The driver of the onion truck, Leonel Vasquez Suarez, was unharmed. McClain will likely face charges.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes told the Orlando Sentinel that the damage to the roadway was extensive. "You can barely walk out there," she said. The roadway was shut down for more than seven hours, and front-end loaders were required to scoop up all the onions.
