Reince Priebus Says GOP Will Never Support White Supremacist David Duke

But he can't stop Duke from piggybacking on the Donald Trump campaign.

Former Ku Klux Klan leader and Holocaust denier David Duke will not see support from the Republican Party in his run for U.S. Senate.

Reince Priebus, the Republican National Convention chairman, tweeted a rejection of Duke Saturday, a day after Duke announced he was running to represent Louisiana in the Senate.

“David Duke & his hateful bigotry have no place in the Republican Party & the RNC will never support his candidacy under any circumstance,” the tweet read.

In Duke’s announcement video, posted Friday morning, he vowed to fight for the rights and heritage of “European Americans” and promised that “a revolution is coming in the United States of America.”

In the past, Duke has been a neo-Nazi, spent time in federal prison and lectured against Jewish people and in favor of separating different races.

“The New York Times admitted that my platform became the GOP mainstream and propelled Republicans to control of Congress,” Duke said in the video. He added that he was “overjoyed to see Donald Trump, and most Americans, embrace most of the issues that I’ve championed for years.”

Duke has endorsed Trump for president and has even taken to using Trump’s slogan, “America First,” for his own campaign.

Several days after Duke’s endorsement, Trump disavowed Duke and the KKK in March.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
