"Tell Your Friends!", a new documentary that promises to show why alternative is the mainstream in comedy, screened Thursday night during South By Southwest to enthusiastic applause from the assembled crowd. The film features such luminaries as Janeane Garofalo, Colin Quinn, Reggie Watts, Marc Maron, Kristen Schaal and many more, all of whom worked and developed in the basements and dives that house some of New York's best comedy shows.

We had a chance to talk to the documentary's star/executive producer Liam McEneaney and director/producer Victor Varnado at Taco Deli in Austin about their film, their careers, and why alternative comedy is important.
