The weekend of October 1st is going to be very busy in the literary world, as heavy hitters from across all book genres are slated to appear at the 11th annual New Yorker Festival, Oct. 1 - 3 in New York City.
Some of the authors set to attend include:
Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Neil Gaiman, John Goodman, Werner Herzog, Bill Simmons, James Taylor, Malcolm Gladwell, E.L. Doctorow, Jonathan Safran Foer, Junot Diaz, Joyce Carol Oates, Dave Eggers, Tobias Wolff, Michael Chabon, Lorrie Moore and Zadie Smith.
Some of the other highlights include a screening of the new film "The Social Network," followed by a discussion with the film's stars, Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake; a panel featuring the cast of "Saturday Night Live"; "The Tea Party": a panel featuring Dick Armey and others about the rise of the right; a panel called "The Vampire Revival" featuring Stephen King.
The festival's goal is to "bring together a distinguished group of writers, thinkers, artists, and other luminaries from field including film, music, politics, economics, architecture, fashion, and literature."
In addition to the panels, the festival will include poetry readings, book signings, one-man performances, and a live version of "The New Yorker's" Cartoon Caption Contest.
